We
provide customized management consulting services to nonprofit
organizations in the areas of planning and strategic management,
fundraising, board development, marketing, organization design and
restructuring, human resources management, accounting and financial
management, executive coaching, mediation, and retreat facilitation.
Our
consulting services are designed to help nonprofit organizations plan
for and manage change. We have helped hundreds nonprofit
organizations assess their internal capacity and external environment
and plan for the future; revitalize their boards of directors; raise
new money to support capacity building and new programs; develop,
market, implement, and evaluate programs and services; and use
financial management as a critical decision-making tool.
Interventions
might include:
- Guiding an organization through the
research, self-assessment, visioning and prioritization involved in
developing a strategic plan
- Advising or providing training for the board
of directors
- Evaluating financial management systems and
advising staff and board in utilizing financial information in decision
making
- Training bookkeepers in the use of
appropriate accounting software and procedures
- Training staff in supervisory and time
management skills
- Developing marketing strategies based on a
comprehensive assessment of the operating environment
- Developing strategies to diversify an
organization’s funding base and to integrate fundraising and fiscal
operations
- Negotiation with contractors, funders and
lenders to ensure timely cash flow.

Nonprofit
organizations can access our customized consulting services through
retainer and fee for services or third party payment. In recent
years, an increasing number of our clients have recognized the
importance of management and technical assistance and have begun to
budget and pay for our services directly. However, there are still
many organizations who cannot afford to do this. Recognizing their
grantees’ needs, a number of private and public grantmakers
provide funding to Nonprofit Connection to work with their grantees.
This service allows funders to help build the capacity of their
current grantees and help organizations whose work shows promise, but
needs further development to warrant full funder investment.
